5-Fluorouracil Injection

5-Fluorouracil Injection is administered via intravenous route by trained personnel for treatment of various types of cancer. It shows effectiveness against colon, ovarian, stomach, pancreatic, and cervical cancers. This injection contains 5-fluououracil as active compound having molecular formula C4H3FN2O2 with molar mass of 130.077 g/mol.  It is a thymidylate synthase inhibitor which works by blocking synthesis of nucleoside that is essential for DNA replication. 5-Fluorouracil Injection can have bioavailability range of 28 to 100% with elimination half-life of about 16 minutes. It gets metabolized in liver by CYP enzyme.

Uses

How it works
